Zadar Harbour is the main port area of the city of Zadar, located along the mainland coast of northern Dalmatia. The harbour includes the waterfront along the historic old town peninsula as well as the wider port area extending toward Gaženica, where most of the ferry traffic is now located. It functions as a mixed-use port handling commercial vessels, local traffic and passenger services rather than as a marina for visiting yachts.
Approach to Zadar Harbour is straightforward, with a wide and well-marked entrance from the Zadar Channel. Navigation requires attention to local traffic and vessels operating between the harbour and Gaženica. The harbour itself is generally well protected, although traffic density can make manoeuvring more demanding compared to smaller coastal harbours.
For visiting yachts, Zadar Harbour is not typically used for berthing. Most of the waterfront is reserved for port operations, and organised yacht berths are not available within the main harbour area. Yachts sailing to Zadar usually berth in nearby marinas such as Marina Zadar (ex Tankerkomerc) or other marina facilities in the surrounding area.
The harbour lies directly beside the city, providing immediate access to Zadar’s historic centre, restaurants and provisioning options. From a sailing perspective, it is mainly used as a reference point when approaching the Zadar area, while overnight stays are typically planned in nearby marinas.
