The Port of Split is the main harbour of the city of Split and one of the busiest passenger ports in the Adriatic. Located next to the historic city centre and Diocletian’s Palace, the harbour primarily serves ferry traffic, cruise ships and commercial vessels, while occasionally accommodating visiting yachts on selected quays when space allows.
Due to its central role in passenger transport, the Port of Split functions more as a city harbour than a traditional marina. Berthing for yachts is limited and typically intended for short stays rather than long-term mooring.
Approaches to the harbour are well marked and straightforward, although skippers should expect frequent ferry movements and heavy traffic, particularly during the summer season. Manoeuvring therefore requires attention and good situational awareness.
Facilities for visiting yachts are basic compared with dedicated marinas. For fuel, technical services or longer stays, yachts normally use nearby marinas in the wider Split area.
One of the main advantages of the Port of Split is immediate access to the city. Restaurants, cafés, markets and transport connections are all within walking distance, making it convenient for provisioning, crew changes or short urban visits.
From a cruising perspective, Split Harbour is usually used as a brief city stop within itineraries connecting the central Dalmatian islands such as Brač, Šolta and Hvar.
