Omišalj city port
A pleasant stop for charter guests exploring the northern Adriatic
Rijeka is the main port city of the Kvarner region and one of the most important commercial harbours in Croatia. From a charter perspective, Rijeka functions primarily as a logistical and transit reference point rather than a leisure marina or charter base.
Marina Rijeka is located within the wider harbour area of Rijeka on the northern Adriatic coast, close to the city centre and the entrance to Kvarner Bay. Positioned inside one of the main port areas of the northern Adriatic, the marina provides organised berthing with direct access to the sailing routes of Kvarner and nearby islands.
The marina offers pontoon berths with stern-to mooring lines suitable mainly for sailing yachts and motor yachts cruising the Adriatic. Access through Rijeka Harbour is generally straightforward, although attention is required due to commercial traffic and ferry movements within the wider port area. Conditions inside the marina basin are usually calm and protected from open sea conditions, while stronger bora winds can affect the wider Rijeka and Kvarner area.
Water and electricity connections are available at the berths together with sanitary facilities, reception services and basic technical support. Additional maintenance, provisioning and transport facilities are available throughout the wider Rijeka harbour zone and city area.
The city centre of Rijeka is located nearby, with supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and transport connections within walking distance of the marina. Due to its position at the head of Kvarner Bay, the marina is commonly used as a starting point for routes toward Krk, Cres, Lošinj and the northern Adriatic islands.
From a sailing perspective, Marina Rijeka is mainly used as a practical transit and base marina for yachts cruising Kvarner and nearby northern Adriatic routes. Its sheltered harbour position and proximity to the city make it a functional marina for short stays and regional cruising access.
Rijeka is the seat of the Primorsko-goranska County, a region which consists of an unusual link between the sea and mountains extending to the Mount Učka across to the Goran mountains as far as the Velebit. To the west of Rijeka, lie the Opatija Riviera, the oldest and most popular Croatian tourist region.
To the east is the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera. Rijeka can thank Gorski kotar - the most preserved part of the region - for its high quality drinking water and its clear air. One of the largest Central European ports and until recently a powerful industrial centre, Rijeka provides many opportunities.
The city offers extensive provisioning options, ship services, repair facilities and transport links, including road, rail and ferry connections. This makes Rijeka relevant for crew changes, logistics coordination and longer-distance planning rather than day-to-day cruising stops.
Rijeka is best understood as a regional reference point within northern Adriatic sailing routes, supporting itineraries that focus on island cruising while relying on island marinas for berthing and guest operations.
